In a sample of 76 transmasculine adolescents followed at the CHU Ste-Justine's Gender Diversity Clinic, Taillefer et al. (2023) assessed expectations and reported effects following testosterone initiation. The results showed that the most frequently desired effects were increased body hair, as well as voice and Adam's apple changes. These same effects were also the most frequently reported by participants and usually occurred during the first year of treatment.
